Paul Terrell Exhibit: Miles of Isles

In July the Dare Arts Vault Gallery will feature original sculptures by Virginia artist Paul Terrell. This series of works were inspired from watercolor, ink and Conti crayon studies made in Paul’s art journals during a recent cruise of the British Isles. Through these mixed media works, Paul is exploring the visual impact of water, sky, and land.

Miles of Isles features mixed media sculptures of naked raku fired ceramics, porcelain, sandblasted wood painted with milk paint, and an experiment with soda fired stoneware. Paul’s ​​ exploration of “Naked Raku” has all of the final slips and glazes break away like a broken egg shell. The results are the contrasting drawings defined by the rhythms of smoke.
