Enjoy free yoga on Thursday mornings all summer at Whalehead in Historic Corolla Park. This 60-minute yoga class is for all levels and is weather dependent. Whether you need a good long stretch after being in the car or a chance to escape the craziness, this class has just what you need. Every session includes guided meditation to re-center you, breath work to calm you, and a series of seated and standing postures to make you feel like your best self. Classes are held outside in front of Whalehead overlooking the sound. Please bring a yoga mat, beach towel or tapestry, plenty of water and sun protection.

Join the OBX Running Company for the 2024 13th Annual running of The Outer Banks Sunrise 5k / 1 Mile Beach race series, Jun 27 at the Epstein Beach Access MP 14.5. Visit With A Corolla Wild Horse Banker Pony

Island Farm 1140 N US Hwy 64, Manteo

Pet and interact with a real Corolla Wild Horse! Island Farm has two Corolla wild horses (otherwise known as “banker ponies”) living on-site. Come learn more about these incredible ponies, and how they fit into early life on the Outer Banks. Rainbow and Grace will be on the Farm during this program, where historic interpreters will explain the pony’s story and their role in local history, Visitors will be able to pet and interact with the ponies during this program. This event recurs weekly on Thursday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Dowdy Park Summer Farmer’s Market

Dowdy Park 3005 S Croatan Hwy, Nags Head

The summer farmer's markets take place every Thursday from June 13 to August 15 from 9 am to 1 pm. There are roughly fifty (50) different vendors with stands, tables, and tents set up throughout the park. Items include fresh produce, local meat and seafood, baked goods, other food and beverages, soaps and skincare products, art, jewelry, crafts, pottery, photography, clothing, handbags, home décor & more!

There will be a make-up market Thursday, August 22, from 4 - 7 pm. Note the change in the time.

Manteo Walking Tours

Manteo Walking Tours begin Monday, March 4th. The tour runs Monday - Friday at 10am. The Manteo Walking Tour is a short, half-mile walk through downtown Manteo and along its waterfront. Join your tour guide owner and operator (and professional stand-up comedian) Greg Smrdel as he entertains and educates you on the rich history of the Outer Banks.The approximately hour-and-a-half tour is fun and informative, but not in the dry, dusty way most history is presented. Join the tour Monday through Friday at 10 am in downtown Manteo. Groups of 12 or more are also welcome with special group rates available. Flexible tour times can be arranged for groups.

Outside Straight Lines Exhibit

Dare Arts Center 300 Queen Elizabeth Ave, Manteo

In celebration of the nationally recognized Pride Month, Dare Arts is proud to announce their second exhibit highlighting work by queer artists in June. This month-long exhibition will highlight a variety of media including paintings, jewelry, fiber art, ceramics, photography, and drawings by local and regional artists who self identify within the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer/questioning (LGBTQ+) community.

Embodiment Exhibit at the Vault Gallery

The Vault Gallery will feature Embodiment, mixed media by Peter Lyon. Embodiment is a provocative exhibit that is meant to be both visually and intellectually stimulating featuring two-dimensional work exploring the post-modern world and societal issues at large. The artist approaches his themes with a critical and oft-times humorous viewpoint. One can expect to see a variety of different styles and genres, both painted and mixed-media. Embodiment will be on display June 7-29, 2024 in our Vault Gallery.

Chicamacomico’s Historic Shipwreck Rescue Reenactment

Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station 23645 NC-12, Rodanthe

Widely known for its rich history of saving souls in peril from the sea, the Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station has, for many years, provided a re-enactment of the beach apparatus rescue drill, recognized as an integral part of the Life-Saving Service. Meet on the porch promptly at 2 and hear an introduction to the history of Ocean rescues from the early 1800’s to present before proceeding out to the drill field where Chicamacomico’s Drill team will explain the equipment, and conduct the drill culminating with the rescue of a lucky kid from the audience. This event is free.

Sunset Festival at Nags Head Kitty Hawk Kites

Join Kitty Hawk Kites for the FREE Sunset Festival at Jockey’s Ridge Crossing! Enjoy some great activities and fun while you shop at some of the best stores on the beach. The Outer Banks has one of the best places to view the evening Sunset on Jockey’s Ridge Sand Dunes. Activities will be at Jockey’s Ridge Crossing, Jockey’s Ridge State Park, Nags Head – Kitty Hawk Kites, and Nags Head – Kitty Hawk Surf Co. The Sunset Festival takes place Monday through Friday nights starting at 7pm till sunset, from June 10th – August 9th. Each week, you can enjoy: Magic Mondays:, Tournament Tuesdays, What's Spinning Wednesdays, Ukulele Thursday, and Family Fridays.
