Guests can make their way around town collecting passport stamps while exploring a lineup of elaborate Halloween themes. \nAmong this year’s themed stops are haunted houses\, ghost ships\, vampires\, zombies\, witches\, a mad scientist laboratory\, a Harry Potter-inspired stop and more. \nMany participating businesses operate throughout the week\, but Halloween Island organizers say Thursday through Saturday are the best nights to visit because all of the Halloween bars are open. The most active time is generally from about 6 to 8:30 p.m. \nOpening Weekend\nThursday\, October 1 \n\nHalloween Island officially begins for the month of October.\nParticipating bars and businesses begin their Halloween transformations.\n\nFriday\, October 2 \n\nHalloween Island coincides with Manteo’s monthly First Friday celebration.\nDowntown activity is concentrated during the evening.\n\nSaturday\, October 3 \n\nHalloween Island continues throughout Manteo.\nSaturday is one of the primary nights when all participating Halloween bars are expected to be open.\n\nHalloween Island continues through Halloween night\, October 31. \nProceeds from the 2026 celebration support the Outer Banks Relief Foundation.

He even constructs his own frames. SUMMARY:A Night of 1587 Pumpkins
DESCRIPTION:Come in costume for a glowing evening at The Elizabethan Gardens as the community works toward lighting 1\,587 jack-o’-lanterns! Enjoy trick-or-treating\, contests\, a bonfire\, and a pumpkin-lined path through the Gardens. Food and treats will be available\, including hot chocolate and apple cider at the Snack Shack-o’-Lantern. There will be a costume contest\, a scream contest\, and a pumpkin-carving contest. \nEvening Schedule \n\n5:30–7 p.m.: Pumpkin drop-off and trick-or-treating\n7 p.m.: Contests begin\n8:30 p.m.: Event ends\n\nHelp create the display during free pumpkin-carving sessions on October 28 and 29\, from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Your pumpkin will join the illuminated path\, and you can take it home after the October 30 event.
