DESCRIPTION:Experience the waters of the Outer Banks during Kayak the Sound\, a guided paddling program at Jockey’s Ridge State Park. Join Ranger Austin for a peaceful morning paddle on the Roanoke Sound\, where participants will explore the aquatic side of the park while learning about local ecology\, wildlife\, and the natural and cultural history of the area. \nAll kayaking equipment and instruction will be provided\, making this program great for beginners and experienced paddlers alike. As the sun sets\, telescopes will be set up for public viewing\, giving visitors the chance to observe planets\, stars\, and other celestial objects with guidance from local astronomers. The free outdoor event is part of the North Carolina Science Festival’s statewide Star Party\, which brings skywatching programs to dozens of locations across North Carolina. Weather permitting\, night sky viewing continues until 10:00 PM\, and all are welcome to attend this FREE event.
