From fireworks over Silver Lake Harbor to a hometown parade\, sand sculpture contest\, square dancing\, and a community beach fire under the stars\, this annual tradition offers family-friendly fun and small-town charm for visitors and locals alike. \nThursday\, July 2\nKick off the festivities with a pre-fireworks gathering featuring music from local DJ Tommy Hutcherson at the NPS docks beginning at 7:00 p.m. The evening concludes with a spectacular fireworks display at 9:15 p.m.\, launched from the National Park Service parking area at the southern end of the island. \nFriday\, July 3\nEnjoy a fundraising Fish Fry and Open House from 4:00–6:00 p.m. at the Island Inn Commons\, followed by the popular Old-Time Ocracoke Square Dance with Molasses Creek from 7:00–8:30 p.m. Admission to the square dance is $5 for adults ages 13 and older. \nSaturday\, July 4\nThe celebration continues with the 43rd Annual Sand Sculpture Contest at Lifeguard Beach from 9:30 a.m. to noon\, followed by the Independence Day Parade at 4:00 p.m. honoring America’s 250th Anniversary.
