Virginia Dare Trail\, Nags Head\, NC \nDescription:\nJoin author Susan Byrum Rountree and Downtown Books for a talk and reception celebrating the rerelease and 25th anniversary edition of Nags Headers: Historic Cottages of the Outer Banks and Their People. \nThe book combines oral history\, narrative and historic photographs to tell the story of Nags Head’s historic cottages and the families who helped establish one of North Carolina’s oldest beach communities. The new 25th anniversary edition includes an additional chapter updating the history and status of the cottages known as Nags Head’s “Unpainted Aristocracy.” \nRountree will discuss the book\, the stories behind it and the process of expanding the anniversary edition. Small bites and refreshments will be served\, and a special-edition hardcover will be available for purchase from Downtown Books at the event. \nGood to Know:\nThis is both a local-history program and book launch/reception and should be especially appealing to anyone interested in Outer Banks history\, architecture and preservation.
