Flying Pirate Half Marathon
Ahoy, runners! The annual Flying Pirate Race Weekend returns to the Outer Banks April 24–26 with a swashbuckling lineup of races for all ages and skill levels. The weekend’s signature Flying Pirate Half Marathon takes participants on a scenic 13.1-mile course through Kill Devil Hills and Kitty Hawk, starting and finishing near the Wright Brothers Memorial and showcasing the coastal beauty of the Outer Banks.
In addition to the half-marathon, the event includes a 5K, 8K, and a family-friendly fun run, plus the popular Double Dare Challenge for runners who complete the half-marathon along with another race. With a festive pirate theme, runners often dress in costume, and the weekend features an expo, finisher medals, post-race food and drinks, and a lively atmosphere that makes it a favorite spring tradition on the OBX.
