OBX Sunrise 5K

Blackman Street Beach Access 2901 S Virginia Dare Trail, Nags Head, NC

This is a family fun event on the beautiful beaches of the Outer Banks featuring the new expansive shores of Nags Head. There will be a post-race/crab crawl, breakfast with refreshments, and of course the most beautiful sunrise on the East Coast. There will be finisher medals and Summer Series Shirts to all participants.

Roanoke Island Festival Park 1 Festival Park, Manteo, NC

Visit Roanoke Island Festival Park's latest traveling exhibit, NC Digs! The exhibit features five types of archaeological sites each of which can be found in North Carolina, along with a tool and technique important to excavating or analyzing each. An interactive panel, entitled “Reading the Clues” will allow participants to delve further into learning about archaeologists’ tricks of the trade. A children’s archaeological dig and other activities, as well as encased artifacts from the Office of State Archaeology Lab, are open to guests.

25th Mollie Fearing Memorial Art Show

Dare County Arts Council 300 Queen Elizabeth Ave, Manteo, NC

The annual show is held in memory of Mollie A. Fearing, one of the founders of the Dare County Arts Council, and features an eclectic mix of artwork. The Mollie Fearing Memorial Show goes on display every May at the DCAC Gallery. In 1975, a group of citizens gathering at Mollie’s house began what was originally called the Sea and Sounds Arts Council. It was established to bring cultural arts programing to Dare County, including dance, theater, visual arts, music, literature and more.

Chip Freund Solo Exhibit

In May, The Dare County Arts Council Vault Gallery will feature photography by Chip Freund. Welcome to The Water’s Edge. As you read this you are but steps from Roanoke Sound. Humanity has been living at the water’s edge since the beginning. Explore the beauty and rhythms in shorelines of sea, sound, lake, and stream through this exhibition. Images range from stunning colorful sunsets to small intimate landscapes, and abstract patterns and textures created at The Water’s Edge.

Twist-a-Tree

Jockey's Ridge State Park 300 W Carolista Dr, Nags Head, NC

This program at Jockeys Ridge State Park will introduce the trees of the park and their benefits to humans and wildlife. This arts and craft activity will allow participants to “twist” a tree and decorate it while a ranger discusses the importance of trees. Materials will be provided, and finished trees can be taken home.

Soundside Nature Trail Hike

Jockey's Ridge State Park 300 W Carolista Dr, Nags Head, NC

Get out and explore Jockeys Ridge with a state park ranger on a 1-mile loop hike along the sound.  NC State Park's educational theme this year is "The Year of the Tree!"  You'll be able to learn about trees alongside local wildlife and the park's natural world.

OBWC Spring Arts & Crafts Fair

Dare County Family Recreation Park 602 Mustian St, Kill Devil Hills, NC

The Outer Banks Woman’s Club is holding a Spring Arts and Crafts Fair. Be sure to attend this fun event featuring local artists and crafters, a food truck, baked goods, and raffles. Proceeds from the Arts and Crafts Fair will support programs in the Outer Banks community and local scholarships.
