Little Diggers at the Elizabethan Gardens

Join the Elizabethan Gardens on Fridays from 10:00- 11:00 am with your preschooler at the Discovery Cottage to explore the outdoors through hands-on learning activities and nature play. Each Friday features a different theme, such as outdoor play, winter hibernation, popular pollinators, plants as food, and spring gardening. Sessions will include a story, activity or craft, and a light snack. The program is free with the purchase of regular admission and for Garden Members. There is space for 15 children per session. Tickets cost $4 for children ages 3-5 and $12 for individuals 18 and up. Tickets can be purchased online from the event website.

Manteo Walking Tours begin Monday, March 4th. The tour runs Monday - Friday at 10am. The Manteo Walking Tour is a short, half-mile walk through downtown Manteo and along its waterfront. Join your tour guide owner and operator (and professional stand-up comedian) Greg Smrdel as he entertains and educates you on the rich history of the Outer Banks.The approximately hour-and-a-half tour is fun and informative, but not in the dry, dusty way most history is presented. Join the tour Monday through Friday at 10 am in downtown Manteo. Groups of 12 or more are also welcome with special group rates available. Flexible tour times can be arranged for groups.

Kate Leal Exhibit: Whispers of the Outer Banks: Coastal Impressions

In March, the Vault Gallery will feature Whispers of the Outer Banks, a collection of paintings created by local artist Kate Leal. This month-long exhibit demonstrates the essence of the Outer Banks through Kate Leal's acrylic pastel compositions. The imagery is gathered from surrounding locations including Roanoke Island, Bodie Island, Hatteras Island and Manns Harbor. Kate's style of painting embodies texture to create forms, and a soft color palette that embraces a familiar feeling of life here on the Outer Banks. Kate's artistic passion is expressed in her acrylic pastel paintings, where she delicately navigates the interplay of soft contrasts, ambient light, and subtle shadows within the coastal landscapes of coastal North Carolina. This is a must see for Outer Banks art enthusiasts. 

Keeper James Book Signing

On Friday, March 29 from noon until 2:00 p.m., Keeper James will be signing and personalizing copies of his book, Shipwrecks of the Outer Banks: Dramatic Rescues and Fantastic Wrecks in the Graveyard of the Atlantic. He will also share some teasers for the Volume II book sequel, which is scheduled for release about a year from now. Come see this national best-selling author and get a personalized copy of his book at this book signing event. This event is free to the public at the Island Convenience store in Rodanthe. To make this event even better, a wine and beer tasting will take place at the same time for adults 21 and older.

Ty Fleming and the Fellas

Playing his gig at the age of 15 with the Alpha Band, he has since played with The Great Shoal Band, Blackwater, and multiple acoustic groups. Be sure to get your tickets for Ty and the Fellas as they make their debut appearance on the stage at The Pioneer Theater. Tickets range in price from $10 - $20.

Annual Easter Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt at Jockey’s Ridge Crossing

Bring the kids to the annual Jockey’s Ridge Crossing Easter Egg Hunt! Join Kitty Hawk Kites in Nags Head across the street from the Jockeys Ridge dunes for an outdoor egg hunt Saturday, March 30th starting at 10:30 AM. Take a picture with the Easter Bunny. Invite your friends and family to participate with special prizes included! Easter Egg Hunts will last 15 minutes with a $7 registration fee for each participant per egg hunt. We highly recommend registering ahead of time.
