Opening Reception Owen Lauber Exhibit

In April, Dare Arts Vault Gallery will feature Manteo Made, a collection of woodwork by artist Owen Lauber. The month-long exhibit includes a selection of furniture and homewares, many of which are made from locally downed trees on Roanoke Island. With simplicity and necessity in mind everything is made to be useful and beautiful, and each piece has a special connection to the area.
This exhibit reflects Owen’s multifaceted approach to woodworking. Items on display range from furniture to smaller more delicate homewares and accessories. Some pieces pair natural forms of the wood with other more refined components, while others feature clean lines with contrasting accents.
There will be an opening reception from 6pm to 8pm on Friday, April 5 where visitors can meet Owen and view his work. Manteo Made will be on display through Saturday, April 27. The opening reception is during downtown Manteo’s First Friday festivities, and is free and open to the public.
