Come and enjoy the beauty of the sunset on the Sound this summer while being serenaded by amazing songwriters who will share not just their songs, but their stories. Bring the family to enjoy a lovely evening of music at the North Marina Pavilion, Sassafras Lane, Southern Shores NC. The summer concert series is timed to coincide with sunset. This event is free to the public.

Parking is available at the North Marina, but we encourage you to walk and/or bike, if possible. The Pavilion offers covered seating but please feel free to bring a lawn chair, blanket, and picnic. For more information, email coordinator@sscaobx.org.

Summer Star Party

The Outer Banks Astronomy Club and Jockey's Ridge State Park will be hosting an evening of stargazing to help spread a love and appreciation for the night sky. The event will help showcase the dark skies we have here on the Outer Banks and will be centered around the new moon to further enhance the appearance of many celestial objects.  Equipment will be provided for your enjoyment.  This event is free and open to the public. All are welcome to bring their own telescopes.

Labor Day Lighthouse 5K

Get your Labor Day off to a healthy start! Be the first to run through the newly refurbished Cape Hatteras Lighthouse grounds, surrounding park, and pathway, with stunning views of the scaffolded lighthouse as craftsmen work to complete its renovation. While the lighthouse is still undergoing renovation, this 5K will offer stunning views of the lighthouse, a tour of the surrounding newly designed park, and pathway. The first 200 registrants receive a commemorative shirt, eco-friendly reusable cup and an awesome finisher medal to celebrate your accomplishment.

Decoy Forensics at Currituck Maritime Museum

Come to the Currituck Maritime Museum for a 30 minute presentation on decoy forensics. Do you have questions about your decoys? Museum experts can assist in finding answers. Admission if free to both the Currituck Maritime Museum and presentation. However, seating is limited to first come, first serve availability with room for about 25 people. After the presentation, enjoy the museum exhibits and static displays. This program repeats weekly on Tuesdays from 10:30am - 11:00 am until Sept 10.
