Wright Brother’s Day & 122 Anniversary Celebration Activities

Wright Brothers Day, held annually on December 17, commemorates the Wright Brothers’ first powered flight at Kill Devil Hills. According to the official schedule, the celebration runs from 9 AM to 5 PM at the Wright Brothers National Memorial, with free admission for all visitors. The day features commemorative ceremonies, historical tributes, and special programs honoring the achievements of Orville and Wilbur Wright. Throughout the day, visitors can explore exhibits, attend presentations, and participate in activities celebrating aviation history and inspiring future generations. Admission to the park is FREE.

A highlight of the event is the First Flight Society’s Annual Luncheon at Jennette’s Pier begins at 12 PM. Tickets ($60 – $75) can be purchased at the event website. The Luncheon brings together aviation enthusiasts, historians, and community members.
