Annual North Carolina Beach Buggy Association’s (NCBBA) Red Drum Tournament

Calling all anglers! The NCBBA tournament features more than $10,000 in cash and prizes and hosts 400 anglers, both individual and in teams of 3-6. Participants are encouraged to sign up early to ensure space is available. The tournament entry fee includes a t-shirt, hat, and other goodies. Enjoy miles of naturally isolated fishing grounds along the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Anglers fish from ORV Ramp 23 to Ramp 38, and possibly Ramps 43 and 44, if judge availability permits. Anglers may fish where they please within the tournament boundaries, as there are no station assignments during the 60 hours of wide-open fishing. The banquet and awards ceremony is subject to restrictions based on state or local authorities with regard to group gatherings, depending on the Coronavirus status.

Blackbeard’s Pirate Jamboree on Ocracoke Island

Come to Ocracoke Island for a Pirate Halloween! The Ocracoke Pirate Jamboree is an annual, multiple-day event. It is a family-friendly, Pirate Encampment on Ocracoke Island. Visitors will learn what it was like to live in a bustling pirate community in the historically-accurate pirate encampment. Enjoy a reenactment of the infamous Blackbeard the Pirate's last battle off the coast of Ocracoke Island. Participants are encouraged to dress in their best pirate gear and partake in a wide range of pirate activities and demonstrations, including a Scallywag School just for kids. Participants will also enjoy Strolling Minstrels, Sword Fights, Black Powder Demonstrations, Beer Gardens (21 years and up), a Pirate Bazaar, and plenty of other pirate activities. Awards will be presented to: children aged 0-12 can for Best Pirate/Colonial girl or boy; to adults for the most authentic pirate and colonial citizen; to the best Blackbeard the Pirate; and to families for the best pirate family. This event combines history with pirate-themed fun. An ideal event for pirate lovers of all ages, this annual festival is one of the most beloved weekends on Ocracoke Island. Admission is $10 for Jamboree attendees ages 13 yrs and up.

The Great Art Heist

The title, "Tide Pool", lends itself to the curiosity of looking and exploring the world around you. The works included in this exhibit will showcase a variety of methods to making an image within abstraction.

This annual event is held on the last Saturday in October each year and open to all wooden boats, whether newly constructed or restored. View the boats on display in George Washington Creef Memorial Park and in the water around the docks at Roanoke Marshes lighthouse. Exhibiting boats are judged on owner-built/restored or professionally built/restored craftsmanship. Awards will be presented at a dinner held on that Saturday evening to present both the“People’s Choice Award” and the “H.A. Creef Award“, a perpetual award that is given to the best overall boat. Pre-registration is required and must be completed by October 25. Event registration is $30.00 for exhibitors which includes a pass for the Friday night exhibitors welcome reception and a museum t-shirt.  For more information, contact Waterfront Operations.

Visitors can participate in historic games, wagon rides, doll crafting, candle making, free blacksmith shop giveaways, and a new lineup of fall activities. To temp your tastebuds, enjoy the very best open-fire cooked popcorn, hearth-cooked corn cakes, and delicious apple cider. In addition to the farm activities, the farm will host a variety of local art and produce vendors on site.

7th Annual Outer Banks Brewtag

The Soundside Event Site 6800 S Croatan Hwy, Nags Head, NC, United States

Kegs Will Fly at OBX Brewtag! This event is a family friendly celebration of flight, modeled after Red Bull "Flutag," which translates to “flying day” in German. With OBX Brewtag, the general premise is the same, however, instead of human-powered flying machines, Brewtag contestants will be competing to see who can launch and fly an empty 1/6 keg barrel the furthest. The event is free. Gates open at 11 am. There will be three live bands and plenty of activities for the kids.
