A producer-only farmers market in Wanchese featuring fresh produce, rotating artisans and so much more. Our family of producers join each market in person to share food and goods that they have grown or crafted themselves, here in Northeastern North Carolina.

The Hatteras Volunteer Fire Department will be the seasonal home of the fish fry from May 25 until August 31. A large plate is $15 and includes two pieces of locally caught fish, southern potato salad, cole slaw, and hush puppies, with sweet or unsweet tea, and homemade desserts available for a donation. The fish fry is held every Saturday at the Hatteras Fire Station from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend, from 5:00 p.m. until dinner is sold out.

With a long-standing history, the Manteo Farmers Market has built a reputation for offering a wide variety of locally sourced goods. From fresh produce like corn, tomatoes, and blueberries to handcrafted items such as pottery, glasswork, and textiles, the market truly offers a taste of the Outer Banks. Local artists often showcase their work here, adding a splash of color and creativity to the market scene. The Manteo Farmers Market is open every Saturday from early May through mid-September from 9AM to 1PM.

Jockey’s Ridge State Park will be offering a FREE Fly Fishing Workshop this summer for youth ages 12 - 16!  Join Park Volunteer Dave Davis and staff for a fun and informative day learning about the art of fly fishing. This introductory course will include an overview of the sport’s history, equipment, targeted species, habitat, bait, and reading of the water. Participants will also be introduced to basic fly tying. An afternoon session of casting will take place along the park’s sound side shoreline.  All equipment will be provided.  This is a FREE program and is made possible by Friends of Jockey’s Ridge. Living Proof: Artistic Visions of Hope & Healing will be on display in The Courtroom Gallery July 5-27, 2024. This exhibit is sponsored by Visionary Artists Group, an organization of local artists, who are cancer survivors and/or caregivers. Their goal is to give all those whose lives have been impacted by cancer an opportunity to share their experiences through creative expression. 

Nothing Is Ordinary; Everything Is Beautiful will be on display in the Vault Gallery July 5-27, 2024. There will be an opening reception on Friday, July 5 from 6pm to 8pm, where visitors can meet Tammy and view her work. This exhibit will feature original, small oil paintings by Tammy Goodrich. The paintings in this exhibition will capture ordinary, yet beautiful, moments in our natural surroundings. Full of lush color and vibrant light, the paintings will resonate with anyone that enjoys still life and local landscape.

itty Hawk Kites is partnering with Surfrider Foundation Outer Banks Chapter to host a series of beach cleanups this season. Participants will meet at the Soundside Rd. public sound access. Once volunteers have checked in, they will receive gloves and cleanup bags, and will be free to clean up a stretch of beach of their own choosing. All participants will be encouraged to use the Marine Debris Tracker app to log the trash they have picked up.

Children ages 3 - 5 years old will enjoy Storytime with Ms. Tammy in the Manteo Library Meeting Room. Come Get Hooked on Books! All August dates have been canceled. Story time will resume in September after Labor Day.

Children grades Kindergarten through 7th will enjoy the "Hooked on Books Club" in the Manteo Library Meeting Room. Join Ms. Tammy to receive a copy of the current Book Club book. There will be a Trivia Game about the book and prizes! Come Get Hooked on Books!

Featuring around 50 vendors offering a wide variety of goods from produce, sweet & savory treats, woodworking, photography, paintings, jewelry, candles, bath and body items and so much more. You’re sure to find one-of-a kind items for yourself and the entire family! The markets will be located at Aviation Park, 103 Veterans Drive. Parking is available at the park and overflow parking is available at the First Flight High School.
The First Flight Markets are held each Tuesday from June 18 through August 13 from 9 am – 1 pm.
