Pea Island Bird Walk

Pea Island Bird Walk is a FREE event. Pea Island is ACTUALLY for the birds! This National Wildlife Refuge has close to 400 species of birds that live here or pass through. Whether you're a beginner or an expert, you'll enjoy this casual stroll beside North Pond. Field guides, binoculars, sunscreen, and insect repellent are recommended. Some field guides and binoculars will be available for loan.

Pea Island Bird Walks are held year-round except during the Wings Over Water Wildlife Festival in October and December. Meet at the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, located on NC Highway 12 approximately 4 miles south of Oregon Inlet and 9 miles north of Rodanthe.

Sweep the Beach Trash Art Contest Viewing

Kitty Hawk Kites and Dare Arts Council present the Outer Banks ‘Sweep the Beach’ Trash Art Contest! Submissions will be placed for viewing on the TrART Walk at Jockey’s Ridge Crossing from March 30th - April 21st. Pieces will be adjudicated and voted on for varying prize categories. Select pieces will be collected and moved to Jockey’s Ridge State Park for Earth Fair OBX, April 22nd, where winners will be announced at the Kitty Hawk Kites booth in Jockey’s Ridge State Park parking lot at 3:45 pm. Bronco Beach Bash Outer Banks

A celebration of “everything Bronco!” welcoming all makes and models. Nobody does this anywhere else! Bronco enthusiasts will gather on the beaches at the Outer Banks of North Carolina. This is always an amazing weekend for the enthusiasts who can’t wait to gather around their passion for the Ford Bronco! Your days are filled with a beach cruise, vendor village, and bronco show. Nights are filled with a celebration and gatherings around the Bronco in OBX. The is no charge for general public to attend! To PARTICIPATE you must register your Ford Bronco! 2025 Courtyard Installation: Aeronautical Sea Marks by Christina Lorena Weisner

Dare Arts Center 300 Queen Elizabeth Ave, Manteo, United States

Spring 2025 Installation: Aeronautical Sea Marks by artist Christina Lorena Weisner will be on display in The Dare Arts Courtyard. The installation will open at 6pm on Friday, March 7 and remain on display through May. This outdoor installation features several geometric structures made from lightweight, weather-resistant PVC pipe and deconstructed fabric from discarded beach umbrellas collected from local beaches by the artist. The cube-like structures vary in size, with some reaching up to eight feet. Their arrangement encourages viewers to move around and in between them, providing a dynamic experience of changing perspectives and spatial relationships within the courtyard. All of The Courtyard events are free, family-friendly and open to the public.

2025 Flying Pirate Half Marathon

The annual Outer Banks Flying Pirate Half Marathon is 13.1 miles of scenic beauty through the charming landscapes of Coastal North Carolina on April 11-13, 2025! In addition the the weekend's namesake event, ther will be a Fun Run, 5K, and 8K as well. Choose your preferred distance, or go big with the Double Dare Challenge where you complete the Half PLUS either the 5K or 8K.

Course Description: The Outer Banks is at sea level and this course is mainly flat the course starts at the historical Wright Brother’s Memorial and ends at the historical Wright Brothers memorial the course will travel you through some of the most gorgeous neighborhoods of kill devil hills and Kitty Hawk.

You begin your journey at the Wright Brother’s Memorial you will travel through some of the neighbor hoods of Kill Devil Hills, along the beautiful Albemarle sound, until you reach Kitty Hawk. Here you will travel through several neighborhoods, you will view the sound and Atlantic Ocean. The rolling terrain thru Kitty Hawk will give you a challenge.

You will then you will soar back to the Historic Wright Brothers Memorial and finish where flight began! See the event website to register and find additional details.

7th Annual Ocracoke Island Water Fowl Festival

​Dozens of carvers, collectors and exhibitors from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Delaware are planning to make the journey later this month to Ocracoke Island for a two-day celebration of waterfowl carving heritage. Hosted by the Ocracoke Island Decoy Carvers Guild, the 7th Annual Ocracoke Island Waterfowl Festival is scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 11, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 12, in the Ocracoke School gym.

In addition to perusing the about 30 booths expected to be set up in the gym, festival goers will have the opportunity to bid on silent auction items, purchase locally baked goods, including Ocracoke fig cake, and buy raffle tickets for the canvasback decoy made by the 2025 featured carver, the late Mark Justice of Ocracoke.

The second annual Ocracoke Earth Day Weekend Celebration will be on April 11-13. Throughout the weekend, attendees can choose from a variety of indoor and outdoor activities designed for all ages, including nature walks, history talks, nature crafts, live music, stargazing, a beach litter pick-up, and informative discussions on sustainability and environmental solutions. The event will conclude with a community beach bonfire (complete with s’mores!) at Ocracoke’s lifeguard beach. This event is Free and open to the public.
