Come to the Rodanthe-Waves-Salvo Community Center on November 27 from 10 am - 12 pm for a community bake sale. Get all your Thanksgiving baked goods at this fundraiser, benefiting the Rodanthe-Waves-Salvo Civic Association Scholarship Fund. This event is FREE and open to the public.
From November through December, the Dare Arts Vault Gallery will feature photography by Ocracoke artist Robert Chestnut. This series of environmental portraits, named “Ocra-broke” exposes the viewer to the other side of living in paradise: the everyday people who work hard and have fun, an island that closes down during the winter months, and the weathered structures that persist through each tourist season. Along with nature filled scenes, Robert loves to find forgotten items and help shine a light on them. To convey his ideas he uses photography, oil painting, and printmaking. Ocra-broke will be on display in the Vault Gallery November 1 through December 21, 2024.
Join the OBX Brewing Station crew for the annual Tipsy Turkey Thanksgiving themed beer mile. Admission includes beer, backyard party, chip timing and T-shirt. This is an adult 21 and over only social run. Limit 100 participants. Prizes to the fastest male and female overall. Wear your Holiday finest for a costume contest. Prizes for most creative. Come to the Fort Raleigh National Historic Site for a program about the Civil War on Roanoke Island, During the American Civil War, Roanoke Island became a haven for formerly enslaved people. Discover the successes and failures of the Freedmen’s Colony and the Civil War battle that shaped it. This is a FREE 20-minute program at the Fort Raleigh National Historic Site. Participants will meet in front of the visitor center.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, canned goods/non-perishable food items will be collected for the local Food Bank.

Thanksgiving morning is a perfect time to be surrounded by family and friends in the beautiful town of Southern Shores. Lace up your sneakers and come on out to run or walk with us!
