Complimentary paper kite kits will be available upon pre-registration. Stop by the visitor center and receive step-by-step instructions on how to construct the kit. Make it your own special kite by adding colorful designs with crayons and colored pencils. Finally, climb the ridge and enjoy one of our most fun pastimes in the park! Come to the Ocracoke Pony Pens to meet the ponies who once roamed as a wild herd and learn about their living history on Ocracoke Island.

The exhibit will be on display Monday-Friday (excluding holidays) from 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. August 1 – October 29 in the first floor conference room of the Town Hall. Join our staff for a paddle on the Roanoke Sound. We'll learn about the sound and estuary portions of Jockey's Ridge State Park. No experience necessary, but children under 13 must paddle with an adult 18 years or older. All equipment is provided to include boats, paddles, and life vests.
Registration is required. Email jockeys.ridge@ncparks.gov for details and to sign up. Please arrive at least 10 minutes early prior to the start of the program.

Salty Tails and Kitty Hawk Kites are teaming up to support our local Outer Banks SPCA with the Salty Tails of Love Adoption Day. Each month, join us at Jockey’s Ridge Crossing from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm and drop off goods to donate to the local SPCA (listed below) or help a furry friend find a forever home at our event, or go into any Kitty Hawk Kites location and purchase Salty Tails merchandise to help support and spread awareness! With each purchase of a Salty Tails hat or shirt, $1.00 will be donated to the Outer Banks SPCA/Dare County Animal Shelter to help support their cause.
