the CHSS Theater Arts class entered a national contest to be the first school in their state to produce Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: High School Edition. In January 2024, CHSS was selected to be the first in the state of North Carolina to produce Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: High School Edition.
About 50 students are involved in the production as cast members, stage managers, light board operators, soundboard operators, costume assistants and wardrobe crew. The carpentry class built scenery. Magic plays a large role in the play, so the students worked with illusionist, Eddie Haggerty, to learn up-close magic.
This magical play runs Nov. 8 at 7 p.m., Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. and Nov. 16 and 17 at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale at the Cape Hatteras Secondary School office, United Bank in Buxton, and the Froggy Dog Restaurant in Avon. They cost $10 for students and $15 for adults. Come show your support for these talented students and their hard work!
