Participants will create, design, and learn to play their own Bucket Drums! From the history of drumming, to how Bucket Drumming became the “busking phenomenon” it is today! Warm up your chops, learn some cool riffs, and let your rhythm shine!

This workshop is for children in grades First through Fifth. I occurs every Friday, January 10 - February 14, 3:30 - 4:30 pm.

These specialized sessions help to guide older students in selecting roles that match their talents. Participants will receive original monologues, one comedic and one dramatic, written and tailored just for them. With focus on mastering the pieces, paying close attention to beats, timing, volume, and other essential skills required for a successful audition.

This workshop is for students in Six through Twelfth grades. The workshop includes six sessions, per student, beginning January 6 through February 14. Participants, and their families, will be able to schedule hour-long sessions that best suit their schedules.

NOW AND THEN is a play written by Sean Grennan and directed by Logan Stem & Kim Plyler. Performances will be held at Theatre of Dare on January 10, 11, 17, 18 at 7:30 p.m. and January 12 & 19 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased for the show ($15) or for dinner and a show ($55). Savor the small town charm of winter markets at Dowdy Park. Come out for fresh produce, meats, bread, seafood, cheese, and delicious wintertime bites! Held under the pavilion. Double check, in case of inclement weather conditions. All markets take place from 9 am - 12 pm.

Join a park Ranger for an exciting dune hike. This guided hike will take you on a one mile loop hike along the Soundside Nature Trail.  Learn more about the environment found at the base of the dunes, including the Roanoke Sound and the unique ecosystem at Jockeys Ridge. Observe plants and learn about the wildlife at Jockey’s Ridge. This hike will take approximately 45 minutes and will meet at the Visitor’s Center Pavilion. Please wear appropriate shoes, sunscreen, and bring water! This is free and open to the public.

Don't miss your chance to shine! Register for a chance to become the next OBX Got Talent champion! Singers(individual, duo or trio), musicians, songwriters, or combination of these. No full bands at this time. Participants that submitted an entry form along with a 1 minute audition video clip will be contacted with a scheduled time to perform for live tryouts beginning 10 am on Saturday, January 11 at 109 Budleigh Street, Manteo, NC 27954. Tryouts are closed to the public and only open to contestants. If under the age of 18 years or older, you must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times to participate.
