Theatre Winter Workshop: One-On-One Monologue Sessions

Theatre of Dare 3848 N. Croatan Highway, Kitty Hawk, United States

These specialized sessions help to guide older students in selecting roles that match their talents. Participants will receive original monologues, one comedic and one dramatic, written and tailored just for them. With focus on mastering the pieces, paying close attention to beats, timing, volume, and other essential skills required for a successful audition.

This workshop is for students in Six through Twelfth grades. The workshop includes six sessions, per student, beginning January 6 through February 14. Participants, and their families, will be able to schedule hour-long sessions that best suit their schedules.

Handmade Paper Art by Paul Tury is the newest exhibit in the Town of Duck Rotating Art Show. The exhibit will be on display Monday-Friday (excluding holidays) from 9:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. November 1, 2024 – January 22, 2025 in the first floor conference room of the Town Hall. Paul’s artistic passion is making handmade paper in his home studio from commercially available and natural sources. The papers he uses are made from cotton, abaca, hemp, recycled paper, recycled clothing and natural items such as flowers, seaweed, herbs, and other plants. He will frequently dye the paper pulp in a variety of bright colors which complement and contrast with the natural colors of his raw materials. This process creates a wide spectrum of colors, shades, and textures. He then uses this paper to build 3-D art work.

Get your theatre skills on point!! Using masks from London's renowned Trestle Theatre, students will explore the power of movement, non-verbal interaction, and silent storytelling. This intensive focuses on the importance of body language in the performing arts!

This workshop is for children in grades Sixth through Twelfth. It occurs every Wednesday, January 8 - February 12, 4:00-5:00pm.

Learn the techniques for creating voices for cartoons, video games, audio books, and more!
From vocal placement, script interpretation, diction, and character coaching, participants will come out with
a variety of vocal characters to enhance their resume, and the tools they need to become part of the world of voiceovers!

This workshop is for children in grades Six through Twelfth grades. It happens every Thursday, January 9 - February 13, 4:00-5:00 pm.
