Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge is home to nearly 400 species of birds that reside here or migrate through. Whether you're a beginner or an expert, you'll enjoy this casual stroll beside North Pond. Field guides, binoculars, sunscreen, and insect repellent are recommended. Some field guides and binoculars will be available for loan. Pea Island Bird Walks are held year-round except during the Wings Over Water Wildlife Festival in October and December. Meet at the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, located on NC Highway 12 approximately 4 miles south of Oregon Inlet and 9 miles north of Rodanthe. The Pea Island Bird Walk is FREE.

Celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with Ranger Austin in this fun, hands-on activity for kids! Children will gather at the craft table to create a Bald Eagle, our nation’s symbol of freedom, and then take their creation home to display. Recommended for ages 5 and up. Registration required. Think you’ve got talent—or just love cheering on local performers? OBX Got Talent returns for Season 3 at The Pioneer Theater in downtown Manteo. Auditions will be held January 24 from 2–4 p.m. and January 25 from 3–5 p.m., welcoming performers of all ages and talents.

Prefer to be in the audience? Live performance rounds begin January 31, continue February 21, and wrap up with the finale on March 21, all at 7 p.m. Tickets are available through The Pioneer Theater box office and online. Come show your talent or warm a seat and support local stars.
