50 Years Of Dare Arts: A Retrospective

In February Dare Arts Vault Gallery will feature a retrospective exhibit curated by Vice President, Rebecca Watkins and Board Member, David Beal. People that visitΒ Fifty Years of Dare Arts, A RetrospectiveΒ will be able to learn about the history of Dare Arts, including notable local icons Mollie Fearing and Frank Stick. The exhibit also highlights the many art events hosted in the community like Artrageous and Outer Banks Veterans Week, as well as programs like the Power of Art. Each panel is filled with photographs and interactive links where visitors might get a chance to see their favorite familiar faces from Dare Arts events over the past fifty years. Fifty Years of Dare Arts, A RetrospectiveΒ will be on display in the Vault Gallery February 7-March 1, 2025. The exhibit is FREE and open to the public.

Tryouts for Outer Banks Got Talent

Don't miss your chance to shine! Register for a chance to become the next OBX Got Talent champion! Singers(individual, duo or trio), musicians, songwriters, or combination of these. No full bands at this time. Participants that submitted an entry form along with a 1 minute audition video clip will be contacted with a scheduled time to perform for live tryouts beginning 10 am on Saturday, January 11 at 109 Budleigh Street, Manteo, NC 27954. Tryouts are closed to the public and only open to contestants. If under the age of 18 years or older, you must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times to participate.

Live Tryouts: January 11 starting at 10am

Round 1: February 1 at 7pm

Round 2: March 1 at 7pm Finale: April 5 at 7pm

Pocosin Wetlands Day Camp – Soundside Science Scouts

Pocosin Wetlands Day Camp Soundside Science Scouts is a single Day Camp. Children must be 7 -9 years of age to participate in this educational activity. Participants will step into the swamp to explore the world of the pocosin wetlands. In this day-long mini-camp experience, students will uncover the unique features of this freshwater ecosystem. From bears and red wolves to mud sunfish and wood ducks, there’s surely something to pique anyone’s interest in this beautiful, boggy place. Along the way, participants will play games, make crafts, and create lasting memories with old and new friends alike. Each camp will accommodate up to 16 individuals. Registration fee is $80.

Bluegrass Island Nights Winter Concert: Malpass Brothers

Come to Roanoke Island Festival Park on select nights for the Bluegrass Island Nights concert series. On March 29 from 7 - 9 pm, enjoy the music of the Malpass Brothers, two young brothers who discovered their grandfather Malpass record collection. Drawn like a moth to a flame, Chris and Taylor studied the brother-harmony bluegrass duos of Jim & Jesse, the Louvin and Wilburn Brothers and bathed in the sounds of Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell, Charlie Pride, Merle Haggard. Doors open for each show at 6:30PM and the show starts at 7:00PM. Refreshments will be available for purchase including beer, wine, and snacks. Seating is limited to only 250 people. Tickets can be purchased online at the event website.
