Spring 2025 Installation: Aeronautical Sea Marks by artist Christina Lorena Weisner will be on display in The Dare Arts Courtyard. The installation will open at 6pm on Friday, March 7 and remain on display through May. This outdoor installation features several geometric structures made from lightweight, weather-resistant PVC pipe and deconstructed fabric from discarded beach umbrellas collected from local beaches by the artist. The cube-like structures vary in size, with some reaching up to eight feet. Their arrangement encourages viewers to move around and in between them, providing a dynamic experience of changing perspectives and spatial relationships within the courtyard. All of The Courtyard events are free, family-friendly and open to the public.

An art exhibition spotlighting the connection between art and nature. This unique event – the first ever at the park -- will be located inside the Jockey’s Ridge State Park’s Visitor Center and will showcase approximately 20 regional artists in a range of mediums and styles.

All art will be for sale and a portion of the proceeds benefits Friends of Jockey’s Ridge. The mission of the Friends of Jockey’s Ridge is to support, protect, and promote Jockey’s Ridge as a significant geologic and cultural feature of the Outer Banks. The Friends group helped to fund over 400 educational programs at the park last year, supported facility updates, and continued to be a leader in the conversation about protecting and preserving Jockey’s Ridge. Artists include Mark Brothers, Marcia Cline, Rick Nilson, Taylor Williams, Holly Nettles, Matthew Grimes, Brad Price, Jill Block, Fen Rascoe, Jacqueline Perry, Megan Rubino, Lyn Jenkins, , Mojo Collins, Billy Moseley, Larry McCarter and more.

May NC Reads Community Book Club: “The American Queen”

Dare Arts will be host Community Books Clubs this spring as a part of North Carolina Humanities’ statewide book club, North Carolina Reads.
Book club events are free and open to everyone. Dare Arts received a small batch of books from NC Humanities to give out to participants in the event. Although the books are free, they are available on a first come, first served basis.

The May NC Reads Community Book Club will be held at 6:00pm on Tuesday, May 13 at Dare Arts. Participants will be discussing "The American Queen" by Vanessa Miller, which is a historical fiction novel that weaves together themes of love, hate, hope, trust, and resilience in the face of great turmoil. Attendees will be joined by special guest Founder and Executive Director of the Peace Garden Project Rev. Dr. Michelle Lewis.
