The 27th Annual Mollie Fearing Memorial Art Show will open at the Dare Arts Courtroom Gallery on Sunday, May 5 with a special opening reception from 2pm to 4pm. The annual Mollie Fearing Memorial Art Show is held in memory of Mollie A. Fearing, one of the founders of the Dare Arts, and features an eclectic mix of artwork. The Memorial Show goes on display every May at the Dare Arts Gallery. Come enjoy artwork submitted by local artists. The exhibit will will end with awards for Best in Show, Excellence, Honorable Mention, and a People's Choice Award.

The month-long exhibit includes a selection of furniture and homewares, many of which are made from locally downed trees on Roanoke Island. Items on display range from furniture to smaller more delicate homewares and accessories. Some pieces pair natural forms of the wood with other more refined components, while others feature clean lines with contrasting accents. Come during downtown Manteo's First Friday festivities. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

The 15th Annual Kids Fest will have 60 different activities for young children in the community to enjoy, including delicious sweet treats from Island Snowball Company, the awesome fire truck from Roanoke Island Volunteer Fire Department, incredible performances by the great dancers of Island School of Dance and Outer Banks Dance Academy, kite making from Kitty Hawk Kites, bubble play, hand marbling from Outer Banks Hotline, Inc., friendship bracelets from the Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast, and SO MUCH MORE! The festival is for young children (activities are geared toward children ages birth-five), parents, grandparents, and child care programs! It will be a morning of fun and games, music, play activities, entertainment, exploration, and art as we celebrate young children throughout Dare County! The event is FREE!

The 35th Annual Artrageous Kids Art Festival will be held at Dowdy Park in Nags Head from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, May 11, 2024. Artrageous is a free, family-friendly event that includes art activities, live music, dance performances, an artisan market, and food vendors. The annual, community event brings families together to paint, sculpt, dance, sing, and be creative.
North Carolina State Parks’ 2024 educational theme is Year of the Bear! Join Ranger Austin for a fun-filled afternoon learning about our state’s largest fur-legged furry friend. He will share a wonderful book with you, which follows a day in the life of a bear. We will also make cool, creative critter crafts!
The program is open to children grades 1 through 5.
