25th Mollie Fearing Memorial Art Show

Dare County Arts Council 300 Queen Elizabeth Ave, Manteo, NC

The annual show is held in memory of Mollie A. Fearing, one of the founders of the Dare County Arts Council, and features an eclectic mix of artwork. The Mollie Fearing Memorial Show goes on display every May at the DCAC Gallery. In 1975, a group of citizens gathering at Mollie’s house began what was originally called the Sea and Sounds Arts Council. It was established to bring cultural arts programing to Dare County, including dance, theater, visual arts, music, literature and more.

2022 Rock the Cape Festival

Dare County Arts Council 300 Queen Elizabeth Ave, Manteo, NC

Entering its 10th year, Rock The Cape will span two days of free, family-friendly fun celebrating the visual and performing arts on Hatteras Island June 2 and June 3. On Thursday, June 2 there will be a full day of art and live music at Kitty Hawk Kites' Waves Village Watersports Resort in Rodanthe. On Friday, June 3 Rock The Cape will host Friday Arts on the Island, which is a First Friday tour of the galleries on Hatteras Island.

Janet Gaddy & Timothy Moran Exhibit – Crystal Clear

In June, The Dare Count Arts Council Vault Gallery will feature beautiful crystalline pottery by Janet Gaddy and Timothy Moran of Brown Summit, NC. Crystalline is the art of growing crystals on pottery during the firing process, and Janet and Tim's hand thrown porcelain features stunning crystal formations unique to each firing. Each piece they produce is hand thrown in fine porcelain and meticulously glazed via their 30 hour, 10-step process.

The Reality of Dreams

In June, The Dare County Arts Council will host a special student exhibition titled Reality of Dreams, featuring a collection of watercolor, acrylic and oil paintings by artists who participate in the ongoing weekly workshops at Dare County Arts Council, taught by Munroe Bell and Fay Davis Edwards. The artists participating in this exhibit range from beginners to professionals, each sharing their inspirations freely in an engaging and supportive classroom atmosphere.
