    Join Ranger Austin for a guided paddle on the Roanoke Sound. Discover the aquatic side of Jockey’s Ridge while learning about the park’s ecology and natural and cultural history.

    Equipment and instruction are provided. Children younger than 13 must paddle with an adult age 18 or older. Arrive at least 10 minutes early.

    Saturday, October 17, 2026 | 10 a.m.–noon, FREE participation
    Jockey’s Ridge State Park Soundside Beach Access, 330 W. Soundside Road, Nags Head

    Spend a morning helping the Friends of Jockey’s Ridge clear marine debris from the soundside shore. Ranger Austin Paul will meet volunteers in the beach access parking lot. Bring water and sunscreen; weather permitting, part of the cleanup may take place in shallow water.

    This event is part of Outer Banks Volunteer Week. Register to volunteer by October 15
